A renewed passion

Well, I’m not completely sure yet, but it looks like I’m getting back into playing guitar. It’s been a while since I’ve had any desire to play any music, let alone write. However, that seems to be changing. I’m taking some steps towards getting a small and cheap home studio setup and I couldn’t be more excited. It all started with a guitar effects processor…
My birthday has just passed and one of the gifts I bought myself with birthday money was a Digitech RP-10. I found it on eBay for a good price. It will basically allow me to record into the computer without expensive microphones and will give me a high quality sound. At least I’m hoping…
It’s supposed to arrive today, and I can’t wait to begin learning how to use it.
I’ve also been reading more on starting a home studio. I’ve found out that it’s very realistic to start a decent home studio on less than $500. The big problem is that I don’t have any type of drum kit, making it nearly impossible for me to completely realize any song that I come up with. I wish money didn’t exist. Maybe I could trade something and get a nice, electronic drum set. That would rock. Maybe some day.
Related to the RP-10: I was looking around trying to find a good user group to get involved in for any questions that might come up while trying to use the unit. I was unable to find any good sites, so I decided to start one. Digitech RP User Community is the result. Hopefully once the search engines have indexed it it’ll begin to grow. I don’t have the time to begin marketing it around, so it’s mostly just a chance I’m taking. It didn’t take much time to setup and it caters to a large audience.
Well, I’m off to watch for the FedEx truck. 🙂
