Long weekends

Man do I love long weekends. I spent yesterday relaxing around the house and catching up on some reading. I’m up through book 8 of 12 of the Left Behind series. It’s been a wonderful series and despite most people’s wining about them adding two additional books to the series just to make a buck, I think they needed 12 books just to tell the story. Oh well. The 12th and final book of the series is coming out in March and it’s the only one I don’t currently have. I cannot wait to read it.
After I’ve finished with the current Left Behind book I’m going to take a break from that series and read The Lord of the Rings series. I’ve put it off long enough and I’m a peak interest right now after watching the extended edition DVD Appendices. Great and interesting stuff.
For those of you that visited my weblog before last Friday, you’ll notice that I’ve given it quite a facelift. The other design was the out-of-box design for the weblog software and while it was okay, it wasn’t quite colorful enough for me. So, I added color and a few other bits here and there.
Here’s a funny little tidbit that happened this last Saturday night… Jamie was sleeping over at our house and we were wanting to go rent a movie. However, as usual, we didn’t have any money, not even enough change. So, I decided to scrounge up some of my DVDs that I don’t watch any more and won’t watch again probably and we took them to Hastings and sold them. I sold 7 of them for about $27. We looked around for a while and finally found a couple that we wanted to rent. It was a lot of fun, and now I’ve got about $14 in store credit left if I’m bored and want to go look around.
BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) has been especially interesting for the last couple of weeks. We’ve been studying the history of Isreale and the minor prophets, which is something that most preachers will never preach on from the pulpit. It covers all of God’s warnings and judgements on Isreale for their wavering faith. It’s really a lesson for all people today. Very good stuff. I’m looking forward to doing Acts next year.
Another cool note from this weekend. My father-in-law Tom purchased an external, 40Gb hard drive for he and myself over the weekend. There was an auction on eBay for a pair of these drives and he was wonderful enough to give me one too! How wonderful is that. Now I’ll be able to take large amounts of data between work and home. It will be very nice.
Well, I guess that’s it for now. Hope everyone is well!
